Cannot send an e-mail using Outlook while staying in a hotel

I can't send my emails
Are you type of person who always travels and most of the time stay in a hotel? Or are you businessman who always travel and stays in a hotel and rely on their free internet access to do you work online? You all can now put your hands down, we're all guilty. But did you encounter an issue sending your messages using your Outlook or Entourage? You did not change anything and it was working all fine before you checked in the hotel. This will give you more information on why this is happening.
Alright, so we all know that your computer is working fine before, you don't have any problem with the Internet but your messages just won't go through and you can receive messages fine. The reason for this is because the hotel's network/system blocks or does not allow the sending operation of e-mail clients like Outlook, Thunderbird, Entourage, etc. The hotel's network is configured to block all sending traffic through an email client like the samples mentioned above.
Now why do they do this? Well the only thing that I can think of is to prevent spammers from using their internet access to send spam messages. Yes, you read it right. There were instances where the spammers uses the hotel's network to send these messages, this will hide their true identity and leave the poor hotel all the blame for the spam messages. And other malicious activities that may involve the use of the internet. And will lead to the blockage of the hotel's address to different spam filtering sites that will inconvenience them from sending legitimate message.
Now what do we do? Well the best thing to do is call the Internet support of the hotel. Verify first if their network allows guests to send messages using an email client like Outlook and the likes. If you are lucky, there are hotels that has an option to go around this setting and setup an alternate relay to allow email client's to send mails. But I won't tackle that on this hub, don't want to get too technical. But what if there is no alternate email relay? I suggest you can try changing the sending port that is configure on your email client, normally the sending port is default to port 25. You can change it to a different port like 2525 or 587. I'll make a hub on how to do this.
If this will still not work, then there is really no way for you to send your mail through your email client. But you should be able to send these messages through your webmail. That is right, this is the main purpose of creating a webmail, for you to have access to your mail through the browser in case there is no way to access through an email client. Yeah, I know it's a hassle, but it's better than not even having away to send mails, right?
If you don't know how to access your email through web (through IE or Firefox), you can contact your company administrator to give you the link on how you can get to the logon screen. This webmail access is similar on how you access your email from yahoo or gmail through your browser. And your company administrator can either reset or tell what is your password since most us does not know this since it 's already saved on our email client.
I hope that this has been helpful. Thank you for viewing and reading my hubs.
